It’s all in the sponge

Having sensitive skin means that you have to be careful about the kinds of beauty products that you use on your body. Once you’ve found the kind of natural and kind products that work well with your skin type, it can revolutionise your whole beauty regime. However, there’s one thing you may have overlooked when it comes to working with your sensitive skin, and that’s your sponge. Now I know what you’re going to say; a sponge is a sponge but you’d be surprised how abrasive some sponges are, as well as containing a lot of synthetic materials. Here at Buddha Beauty, we have a range of Konjac Sponges that are gentle enough to be used on even the most sensitive skin. Konjac Sponges are made from the Konjac Potato/Konnyaku which is a natural perennial plant found in Asia. Because the pH of the plant is neutral and is free from any chemicals, colouring, additives or irritants, it leaves skin perfectly balanced and can be used on every skin type. In fact, Konjac Sponges were originally made for the delicate and sensitive skin of babies! Made by hand and with mineral rich extracts, these sponges deeply cleanse, exfoliate and detoxify the skin in a gentle yet effective way. Because it is a naturally growing plant, it is 100% biodegradable, fully sustainable and is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. Here at Buddha Beauty, we’re not the first to utilise the benefits of the Konnyaku. For over 1,500 years, it has been used as a beauty product, medicine and even food, in Korea, Japan and China. If you suffer from acne prone or oily skin, switching to a Konjac Sponge can revitalise your skin, leaving you with a radiant complexion. Now, if you’re looking to add a Konjac Sponge to your beauty regime, they can be a little confusing when you first get your hands on them. Konjac Sponges are very hard and can leave you scratching your head thinking, “surely this isn’t supposed to touch my body?” Please, before you start using the sponge on your skin, soak it in warm water for at least five minutes. It will soften and become much more like a typical sponge. Then you can start using it. It’s best to squeeze a few drops of your chosen cleanser on the sponge, before massaging on your skin in circular motions. Once you’re done, simple rinse with warm water, squeeze out the excess and leave it to air dry. Konjac Sponges dry extremely quickly and this helps to prevent bacteria and mould from forming in between uses; a common occurrence with other kinds of sponges. With that in mind, we still recommend that you replace your Konjac Sponge twice a month. We can’t wait for you to try out the Konjac Sponge with your new Buddha Beauty skin care products.
